A major disaster. Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the Champions League for three years!

The German newspaper "Welt" reported disastrous news for Barcelona, when it announced that the Catalan club faces almost exclusion from the Champions League for three years for violating the rules of financial fair play.

It is no secret to anyone about the major economic crisis that Barcelona has been experiencing over the past 5 years, and despite the club’s partial success in overcoming it, adherence to the rules of fair financial play remains a major problem that exists until now, and Barca officials have not denied it.

According to the newspaper, what is being said within UEFA behind the scenes is that Barcelona's budget is "a complete mess" with many losses that would increase the penalty expected to be imposed.

Due to the economic losses and Barcelona's failure to achieve a balance between expenses and upcoming income, the Spanish club's punishment may reach exclusion from European competitions for a period of 3 seasons, starting from the next 2024-2025 season.

UEFA had already sentenced Barcelona to a fine of 500,000 euros in the summer, and the Federation’s Financial Control Chamber concluded at the time that the club had incorrectly declared profits from the sale of intangible assets that did not constitute relevant income.

As the matter is repeated, and even worse than before, the punishment will double, and it will not only be a material punishment, but it will amount to being banned from European participation, and with it a catastrophe, whether on the economic or sporting levels for Barcelona.

It is noteworthy that Barcelona this season succeeded in passing the group stage of the Champions League, and will set a date with Napoli in the round of 16 next February.
