"Sport" newspaper reported that Manchester United offered Barcelona a swap deal in the upcoming winter transfer period.
This deal is for Jadon Sancho to move to Barcelona in exchange for the Red Devils obtaining the services of Brazilian winger Rafinha.
According to the newspaper, Deco, Barcelona's sporting director, will play a decisive role in this deal as he is Rafinha's former agent and was the one who brought him to Camp Nou in the summer of 2022.
The deal comes primarily because Manchester United management realizes that it is difficult to find a club willing to pay the same large value it paid to acquire Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, amounting to 85 million euros.
The idea of exchanging Sancho for Dortmund player Malin was raised in the coming days, but the newspapers revealed the difficulty of the matter happening because the two parties had not reached an agreement on the deal.
Barcelona has been interested in Sancho for a long time, and Xavi Hernandez appreciates his abilities, while Rafinha has not yet succeeded in presenting his credentials, so a deal is likely to happen if the two parties succeed in reaching an agreement that satisfies all parties.
It is noteworthy that Sancho has not participated with Manchester United since last August, after his dispute with coach Erik ten Hag, which led to his exclusion from even training with the first team.
Rafinha joined Barcelona after a major struggle with Chelsea, in the summer of 2022, for 60 million euros, and over the course of 65 matches in the Catalan shirt, he scored 12 goals and made 17 others.
