Sergio Aguero, the former Barcelona star who is very close to Lionel Messi, revealed that the flea's return again to the Catalan club is only a matter of time, but he came back and confirmed that this is "just an expectation" and not information.

When asked whether this was an expectation from him or information, he said, “I did not discuss this matter with Messi. It is just an expectation.”
Spanish newspapers have indicated that Barcelona is seeking to honor Messi in a manner befitting him when the Camp Nou stadium opens after renovations in November 2024.
However, the idea of Messi retiring with the Barcelona shirt is still entertained by all parties, but the matter depends on the financial capabilities of the Catalan club and the ability to convince the player to return despite the disagreements with Joan Laporta’s management.
