The draw for the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey, which was held on Tuesday evening, resulted in easy matches for the top teams in the Spanish League, to be held a few days before the Super Cup.
Real Madrid is the title holder of the last edition of the King's Cup after winning the title at the expense of Osasuna, and will begin its campaign by facing Arandina next January 6 or 7 at El Monticello Stadium.
As for Barcelona, Barbastro will face one of the Spanish second division teams on January 7 at the latter’s stadium, while Atletico Madrid will play against Lugo.
After playing the matches of this round, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Osasuna will move to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Super Cup scheduled to be held on January 12 in the city of Riyadh.
It is noteworthy that the matches will be held in a single-match knockout system after changing the old system, which made matches in all rounds except the final, held in a home-and-away system.
Now only the Spanish King's Cup semi-final matches are played back and forth, while the rest of the rounds are held in one match played on the lands of the lower division clubs.
