Ancelotti responds to Piqué: fourteenth will remain in the minds forever

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti responded to Gerard Piqué's comments that the club's 2022 Champions League triumph was "miraculous" and unbelievable given the team's performance.

Pique said in his remarks, "Real Madrid may not perform well but you will find it in the decisive roles of the Champions League, the last time they achieved the title was miraculously and no one will remember it."

Ancelotti responded to this after Real's 3-0 win over Sporting Braga by saying: "Pique lives in his world, which is not the world of Madrid, I can assure you that all Real Madrid fans will not forget the fourteenth."

As for what the Champions League represents for Real, he said: "It's a special tournament for us, I believe that Real Madrid built its own history for this tournament, so every game has a special value for us."

Real Madrid's victory over Braga secured their place in the last 16 with two rounds to go before the end of the group stage.

Ancelotti led Real Madrid to the fourteenth title by beating Liverpool in the final 1-0, before failing to retain the title in the 2023 edition and losing in the semi-finals 5-1 to Manchester City on aggregate.
