Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo rejected the idea of joining Bayern Munich in the upcoming winter transfer period, preferring to wait until the summer of 2024 in order to decide his fate whether to stay in the Spanish club or join the Bavarian giant or others interested.
This is what was reported by the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", which confirmed previous reports that there was direct communication between Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and Araujo in order to include him in the winter Mercato.
The newspaper revealed that Bayern Munich is willing to give the player a huge salary that greatly exceeds his current salary with Barcelona, but Araujo does not care much about the money currently, while he is primarily looking at the sports project.
Because of this, the Uruguayan international prefers to wait until the end of the season to see how the sporting project in Barcelona is progressing and developing, and accordingly he decides his fate. If he finds that things in Catalonia are not well, then he may decide to leave.
The surprise is that Bayern Munich is not the only one interested in obtaining Araujo's signature. Manchester United also has its eye on the 24-year-old defender and is willing to double his current salary at Camp Nou to convince him to join Erik ten Hag's squad.
As for Barcelona, sporting director Deco puts Araujo on the list of players whose contracts he is working to renew, and Blaugrana officials consider the defender to be an essential part of Xavi Hernandez’s project that cannot be touched.
It remains to be noted that Araujo's contract with Barcelona extends until the summer of 2026, and he has a fabulous release clause worth one billion euros, which makes Barcelona officials very calm despite all the surrounding events.
