Atletico Madrid renews Simeone's contract until 2027

Diego Simeone's career with Atletico Madrid will last another four years, after the Spanish club announced the renewal of the contract of their Argentine coach until 2027.

According to Spanish media, the coach, who was earning the highest European wage, agreed to waive and reduce his salary by half so that his journey at the Wanda Metropolitano would continue for more years.

On the official website of Atletico Madrid, Simeone expressed his happiness with this step, saying: "This step is very important for me, because it shows that we are still behind a project that started many years ago, thank you to everyone for their trust in me."

"The team has evolved into another way of playing in the past years, we now have a group of young players who are convinced that we can win, and we must help them."

"I am committed to the same extent as I have since my first day here, the players know that we want to win, and I promise you that we will conquer the impossible together."

Simeone, 53, arrived at Atletico Madrid in December 2011, and with him there was a huge revolution in the Roje Blancos, winning the Spanish league twice, the Europa League twice, and reaching the Champions League final twice.

With Atletico Madrid, he won the Copa del Rey once, the European Super Cup twice, and the Spanish Super Cup once.
