Barcelona's list for the Girona match in the Spanish League was devoid of the name of left-back Marcos Alonso, joining the Catalan club's injured list.
According to the official statement issued by Barcelona, Alonso is suffering from back pain, so he was excluded from the Girona match. The date of his return to the field remains unknown and depends on the speed of his recovery.
Instead of the Spanish full-back, Xavi Hernandez included 16-year-old Pau Cobrasi, who plays as a centre-back and is seen as the hottest talent in the La Masia sector.
Alonso became Barcelona's fourth injured person in the last month, after Ter Stegen, Iñago Martinez and Gavi.
The 32-year-old played only 299 minutes with Barcelona this season in all competitions, most of them as a substitute.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona hopes to achieve victory over Girona, and consequently reduce the gap with Real Madrid, who leads the La Liga standings, to only two points.
