Barcelona faces the risk of losing Ronald Araujo soon to Bayern Munich, as Sky Sports indicated that the German club entered into direct negotiations with the player during the past few hours.
Earlier last month, newspapers had confirmed that Bayern wanted to include Araujo, but everyone agreed on the difficulty of the issue given the Catalan club’s lack of intention to sell, and even if Barcelona agreed, the value of the deal would be very huge.
But in the past few hours, a serious development occurred, after Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and Christoph Freund, the sporting director, contacted Araujo directly and informed him of their desire to include him in the Bavarian club, whatever the cost of the deal.
According to the German network, Tuchel expressed to the Uruguayan international how impressed he was with his abilities, and that he wanted to include him as soon as possible, but how the player reacted to that remains unknown until now.
The ball is now in Araujo's court, as he is the one who will decide whether he wants to stay in Barcelona and close the door on Bayern Munich, or whether he will revolt against the Blaugrana and express his desire to leave and with it begin a new chapter in the negotiations.
Araujo's current contract with Barcelona extends until the summer of 2026, and Catalan newspapers quoted the club's management as saying that the only way to sell the player is for Bayern Munich or others to pay the release clause worth one billion euros.
