Barcelona is on the cusp of finalizing a surprise winter deal

Journalist Gerard Romero, who is close to Barcelona, published new news about what the Catalan club aspires to in the winter transfer period, indicating that a new deal is already on the cusp of Camp Nou.

This deal will be to sign Girona defender, Alex Garcia, by exploiting the release clause in his contract with the surprise La Liga this season.

Joan Laporta's administration plans to find a way out of the Financial Fair Play Law to support the value of the penalty clause of 20 million euros, or work on a swap deal.

The names proposed in the exchange deal are Uriel Romeo, who joined the Blaugrana only 6 months ago, and whom Girona officials previously expressed their desire to bring back.

It is also possible that the exchange deal includes the name of Pablo Torre, whom Barcelona loaned to Girona last summer.

Garcia had announced before the last Barcelona-Girona match that he dreamed of wearing the Barcelona shirt one day, and perhaps from here was the spark that sparked Xavi Hernandez's interest in him.

The 26-year-old can be relied upon in the center of defence, a position that is facing a clear crisis in Barcelona, in addition to the possibility of playing in the midfield, and this dynamic is badly needed from Xavi in the remainder of the current season.
