Barcelona is prohibited from showering by government decision!

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Water crisis hits Barcelona

The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that the Catalan regional government imposed a ban on the use of water in showers in sports facilities and centers, including the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium, Barcelona's stronghold, as well as the Blaugrana training center.

The government's decision comes within the framework of a plan to rationalize consumption, but Barcelona's players will be more affected by it.

Based on this decision, Barcelona players will not be able to shower in Luis Kompanis’ locker room after the end of any match, or even shower in the club’s training headquarters, otherwise they will be subject to a large government fine.

The matter does not stop only with showering, but even using water in any form, including watering the field before and after training.

Catalonia aims to combat drought after the region went through the worst drought in 30 years and a decrease in rainfall rates in 30 years.

The Minister of Climate Change in the Catalan government clearly stated that Barcelona players should shower at home from now on, and not only that, but also work to rationalize water consumption inside the stadium as much as possible.

The Minister also clearly confirmed that any violation of this decision will require the Barcelona administration to pay a large compensation amount, especially since the region is suffering from a financial crisis and there will be no complacency in the matter.
