Barcelona is very angry with De La Fuente after Gavi's injury, and the coach responds: Bad luck

Gavi is out injured in the Spain-Georgia match

Spanish press reports revealed that the Barcelona administration is very angry with Spain national team coach Luis de la Fuente for the decision to include Gavi in the Georgia match, which led to him sustaining a serious injury that will keep him out of the field for a long time.

In the twentieth minute of the match, Gavi's right foot hit hard and he left the field crying. After tests, it became clear that he had suffered a cruciate ligament injury and would be absent from the field for a period ranging from 6 to 8 months.

The Barcelona administration cannot understand why De La Fuente relied on Gavi in an unimportant match like the Georgia match, given his awareness of the pressure of the matches and the great physical load on the players, which usually translates into serious injuries.

The Spanish national team had already qualified for Euro 2024, and the match against Georgia was not important, so it was logical for the coach to rest the tired senior players and rely on the second-line players. However, inexplicably, De La Fuente decided to include Javi, and then the bad injury occurred.

In turn, De La Fuente defended himself in statements after the match, saying, “It was an accident and bad luck, but Gavi was completely ready to play, like any other player.”

He also added, "The locker room turned into a state of sadness, as if we had lost the match. We were devastated."

He concluded, "Gavi's injury was serious and it was a difficult moment for all of us. He is a player loved by everyone."

The Spanish national team had succeeded in defeating Georgia 3-1, but this victory did not change anything in its lead in the group standings and qualified it, along with the Scottish national team, for Euro 2024 in Germany.
