Figures show Barcelona are the worst club in Europe's top five leagues for effectiveness in front of goal, following a 1-1 draw with Valencia.
The Catalan club wasted a barrage of opportunities against Valencia, and this is not the first time that the Catalans have lost points due to poor effectiveness in front of goal, which Xavi Hernandez considered “Barcelona’s major crisis this season.”
Barcelona is the club that creates the most goals for the teams in the five major leagues this season, with 64 chances, but it has the lowest rate of converting these chances into goals, at only 31%.
Looking at the continent of Europe as a whole, Barcelona's effectiveness in major opportunities puts it in 71st place among the clubs of the Old Continent.
In general, Barcelona is the team that missed the most opportunities in the five major leagues after 17 rounds of the Spanish League.
Xavi spoke about this after the Valencia match, saying, “I think we are one of the least effective teams in Europe, even though we are among the clubs that create the most chances. I am very disappointed.”
