Before facing Real Madrid... Leipzig agrees to sell its star

German press reports stated that Leipzig player Timo Werner is on his way to joining Tottenham on loan until the end of the season.

The German national team star's decision to leave comes after he barely participated with coach Marco Rose's squad, and his participation in Euro 2024 with his country became in grave danger.

Werner's name was previously linked to joining Manchester United, which is looking to support its attacking line, considering that he would be a cheap option on the one hand and that he has experience in the English Premier League on the other hand.

But the reality is that Tottenham succeeded in closing the deal in their favor, after the player’s camp expressed its approval for him to join the London club, despite Werner’s previous history with Spurs’ arch enemy, Chelsea.

Werner, 27 years old, played for two seasons with Chelsea, but he only succeeded in scoring 23 goals and assisting 21 others in 89 matches in all tournaments.

In light of the distinguished levels that Tottenham is experiencing with Ange Postecoglou, Werner considered that the option of returning to the Premier League through the Spurs portal is the best, and the deal is supposed to be officially announced within the next few hours.

It is noteworthy that Leipzig previously announced that it would not abandon any player before the difficult period that awaits it in the rest of the season, the most important of which is facing Real Madrid in the round of 16 of the Champions League, but Werner’s pressure succeeded in breaking the promising club’s decision.
