The German newspaper "Bild" caused a huge surprise by confirming that Bayern Munich could sign Ronald Araujo against Barcelona's will by exploiting a release clause with a high value but within the reach of the Bavarian club.
The Spanish newspapers were always talking about Barcelona being quiet regarding the Araujo story due to the presence of an astronomical penalty clause in his contract with the Blaugrana worth one billion euros, which makes his departure almost impossible.
But according to "Bild", the penalty clause in Araujo's contract next summer is worth 80 million euros, and although it is a high value, Bayern Munich can pay it and obtain the signature of the Uruguayan defender.
Thomas Tuchel believes that Araujo will be the leader of Bayern Munich's defense line in the future, as the German coach believes that the player's defensive capabilities, in addition to his ability to play with his feet, qualifies him to play the role of the most important man in the Bavarian club's defenses.
Bayern Munich hoped that Kim Min Jae or Dayot Upamecano would play this role, but the duo did not succeed in imposing their abilities, and as for Matthijs de Ligt, Tuchel is not one of his biggest fans.
The Sky network had confirmed that Bayern would not lose hope, and would follow the same policy it followed in the Harry Kane deal of waiting and persevering in order to obtain Araujo's services.
