De Zerbe frustrates Barcelona: The worst happens in Fati's injury

Updated: Dec 9, 2023

Fati, a Brighton player loaned from Barcelona, is injured

Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi revealed that Ansu Fati's injury will keep him out of action for a long time, even worse than expected.

During the match between Brighton and Nottingham two weeks ago, Fati fell to the ground injured and left the field in the 20th minute, and it was later announced that he was injured in the quadriceps muscle in his right leg.

De Zerbi spoke at the press conference for the Burnley match about Fati’s injury, saying, “Unfortunately, I think Fati needs at least three months to recover and return to the field.”

The Italian coach also added, saying, "It is definitely bad news for us. He has begun to integrate with us and understand us better. I really feel sorry for him as well as for the team as a whole."

Fati's long-term absence represents miserable news for Barcelona, as the Catalan club's management itself hoped that the player would regain his level and return to the team again next season, or that he would be sold for a large sum in the summer.

Injuries have always been a crisis in Fati's career. When he reached his best levels, he was injured against Real Betis in November 2019, and since then he has not succeeded in returning to what he was, so the decision came to loan him to give him a new opportunity for his career.
