FIFA issues historic sanction against Rubiales after 'Women's World Cup kiss'

FIFA has announced a historic sanction against Luis Rubiales, the former president of the Spanish Football Federation.

Rubiales sparked controversy during Spain's women's handing over to the 2022 World Cup in Australia, after kissing Jenny Hiromso.

Under pressure, Rubiales was suspended for 90 days, then fired, and now FIFA is practically ending his football career.

According to a FIFA statement, Rubiales is suspended from any sports activity for a period of 3 years, due to violation of Article 13 of the Disciplinary Regulations Law.

The Spaniard has the right to appeal this decision, but it is unlikely that this will lead to a reduction in the penalty or his general return to his position or any other position in football.

Rubiales had defended himself that the kiss was consensual between him and Hermoso, before the player said that she did not like it and was against her will, to convict the president of the Spanish Federation of harassment and the matter reached the prosecutor's office.
