For the first time.. Al Ahly stumbles in the Egyptian league with a draw with El Gouna

Al Ahly drew with El Gouna 1-1 in the match held at Khaled Bishara Stadium in the fourth round of the Egyptian League 2023-2024.

Prior to this match, the Red Club won 4 matches against Al-Masry, Ismaily, Arab Contractors and Ceramica Cleopatra respectively, but for the first time locally this season, Marcel Koller’s men faltered.

Anthony Modeste succeeded in scoring the goal for Al Ahly in the 36th minute, but Ahmed Belhaj from the penalty kick was able to equalize for El Gouna.

Despite the draw, Al Ahly reached first place in the Egyptian league standings with 13 points, the same as Pyramids, with a game less for the red genie and superiority on goal difference.

El Gouna continued their distinguished start to the season and reached the ninth point with them rising to eighth place in the Egyptian league standings.

Now club football in Egypt is on hiatus as the Pharaohs play two matches against Sierra Leone and Djibouti in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers over the next two weeks.
