For the first time in history, Girona beats Barcelona and takes the lead in La Liga

Barcelona lost four to the Spanish club Girona

Girona continued its big surprise in La Liga, beating Barcelona at the Luis companys Olympic Stadium 4-2 in the sixteenth round of La Liga.


Girona did not need much time to get ahead of Barcelona, as the first goal was scored by Artem dovbek in the 12th minute, but Robert Lewandowski quickly equalized for the hosts in the 19th minute.


Before the end of the first half, Miguel Gutierrez scored Girona's second goal in the 40th minute, and while the Barca were looking for an adjustment, with a mistake from Conde, Valeri Fernandez Estrada managed to score the game-killing goal in the 80th minute.


Ilkay Gundogan managed to close the gap for Barcelona in the 91st minute, and then Robert Lewandowski strangely missed the chance to adjust, and the ball bounced with the fourth goal of Girona through Christian Stuani.


This is the first time that Girona has managed to achieve victory over Barcelona throughout history, as they previously met 6 times in La Liga, during which the belograna won 4 times and drew twice.


This victory changed a lot in the La Liga standings, so Girona became the sole leader of the Liga standings with 41 points, taking advantage of the fall of Real Madrid with a 1-1 draw with Real Betis on Saturday.


Barcelona dropped to fourth place in the La Liga standings, after Atletico Madrid beat Almeria and the duo became equal on 34 points with the advantage of the Diego Simeone men on goal difference.
