“Gavi's injury” is Barcelona’s only way out of life in January 2024 by signing Vitor Roque!

Had it not been for Gavi's injury, Barcelona would not have been able to include Vitor Roque in the current winter transfer market, so confirmed the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", emphasizing the difficult economic situation in the Catalan club during this period.

Roque was scheduled to join Barcelona next summer, but Xavi Hernandez asked the management for the Brazilian to join quickly in light of the clear attacking crisis that the Blaugrana is suffering from this season.

Barcelona paid 40 million euros to Atletico Paranaense to include the 18-year-old, and he signed a long-term contract with Barca until the summer of 2026.

But the surprise is that Barcelona will only be able to include Roque on its list as a loan player until the summer of 2024, as a replacement for Gavi.

The main reason for this is the failure of the German Libero Fund to pay the purchase price of 10% of the shares of Barca Studios, amounting to 40 million euros.

Thus, Barcelona became without financial resources in line with the rules of financial fair play, and had it not been for Gavi’s rupture of the cruciate ligament, Barcelona would not have succeeded in including Roque in its roster.

The Spanish League grants the right to clubs whose players suffer long-term injuries in the middle of the season to replace him with another player for a salary equal to his salary by only 80%, and on loan until the injured player returns from his injury.

Barcelona took advantage of this clause and has already sent Roque's papers to La Liga, waiting for approval to come before Thursday so that the player can participate in his first match in the Catalan jersey against Las Palmas.
