Gundoğan: My experience is an important weapon for Barcelona in El Clásico

Barcelona's Ilkay Gundoğan believes his experience in the world of football will play an important role with the Catalan club's youngsters when they play Real Madrid's La Liga clash on Saturday.

The 32-year-old joined Barcelona last summer on a free transfer and didn't need much time to become one of the top leaders in the Blaugrana's dressing room.

The Germany international spoke about El Clásico and his role, saying: "It's a game full of emotions, maybe it's the biggest game of the young players' career so far, so they need calm and patience."

"Barcelona's young players are in very good shape, they have another important chance in El Clasico, but patience and calm are essential in such matches."

"We made some mistakes in the past games that cost us goals, those mistakes could have been avoided, and in El Clásico I will try with my experience to help the young players stay calm during the game."

Gundoğan has made 13 appearances for Barcelona this season between La Liga and the Champions League, and so far he has not scored but has contributed four assists.
