Laporta: If Real Madrid had been unfair to Rayo, they would not have stopped crying all week

Barcelona president Joan Laporta took advantage of the club's celebration of the 124th anniversary of its founding to attack arbitration, while he considered that the return of Frenkie de Jong would make the Blaugrana "invincible."

Barcelona qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League after defeating Porto 2-1, a few days after drawing with Rayo Vallecano 1-1 in a match that witnessed a major arbitration controversy.

Laporta said, "We deserved two penalties against Rayo. If Real Madrid had been subjected to such a thing, they would not have stopped talking about it all week."

He also added, "If we want to win, we have to be much better than all of our opponents. Now we won against Porto and we have a clear task in front of us to achieve victory over Atletico Madrid and Girona."

As for qualifying for the Champions League, he said, “It was an important victory because it guaranteed our qualification to the round of 16. I am happy for the club’s fans and also for Xavi. He deserves it. Xavi went through difficult times and succeeded in overcoming them successfully.”

At the end of his speech, Laporta praised the current Barcelona players by saying, “Cancelo played a great match, just like Joao Felix, and Pedri ran a lot, and with Frenkie’s return, we will be able to control the ball. We are invincible.”

It is worth noting that Barcelona occupies fourth place in the Spanish League standings, equally with Atletico Madrid, with 31 points each, and before their expected confrontation next Sunday at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium.
