Despite the emphasis on the great confidence in Xavi Hernandez and his full support for Barcelona's leadership, Joan Laporta, president of the Catalan club, threatened the coach with dismissal in his recent statements if he failed to achieve titles.

Laporta said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, “Xavi can withstand the pressure in difficult times, with the Spanish League and Super Cup, and I believe that we can repeat what we did last season and more with Xavi.”

He continued in this regard, "Xavi worked well with us. He has great stamina. We trust him."

But in the same interview, Laporta said what was more like a threat to the Catalan coach: “If Barcelona does not win titles, there are always consequences.”

He also added, "We will then need to make decisions, but the truth now is that we have chances in all competitions."

He concluded, "We will compete for all championships. I am optimistic, and my expectations remain the same."

Barcelona occupies third place in La Liga, 9 points behind Girona, and will also face Napoli in the round of 16 of the Champions League, in addition to starting its campaign in the King’s Cup and Super Cup next January.
