Leverkusen frustrates Real Madrid: There are no clauses in Xabi Alonso's contract

Xavi Alonso knows Bayern Leverkusen

Fernando Carro, CEO of Bayer Leverkusen, denied rumors about the existence of a release clause allowing coach Xabi Alonso to leave the German club for Real Madrid or any other club at the end of the current season.

Reports from German newspapers indicated that Alonso's contract includes a release clause worth 18 million euros that allows him to leave to coach Real Madrid, Liverpool, or Bayern Munich.

Carro commented on this in statements to Talksport, "There is no release clause, but you do not need clauses like that. We have a very good relationship with Xabi and he knows that we are a serious club."

He also added, "In the end, we will not force anyone to stay if they want to leave. We want Alonso to feel happy with us and to want to continue here. This is our goal."

He added, "It is true that there is no such clauses on paper, but there are agreements that are not on official papers and are effective agreements, and we know that if he wants to move to another club in the future, we can talk to each other and decide."

"I hope we don't need to do that because he will stay and be happy at Leverkusen," Carro concluded.

It is noteworthy that Xabi Alonso led Leverkusen to top the German League standings this season and qualify for the round of 16 of the European League and the German Cup, without suffering any defeat in any tournament so far.

What Alonso has provided this season so far has been enough for him to be included on the list of the most prominent candidates to succeed Carlo Ancelotti as coach of Real Madrid next season, even though the latest Spanish reports say that the Italian coach is on his way to extending his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu for another two years.
