Messi complains of "injustice" in his absence from the Ballon d'Or 2022

Inter Miami's Lionel Messi has made no secret of his disappointment at not being on the final list of candidates for the 2022 Ballon d'Or, which Karim Benzema was crowned.

Messi moved in the summer of 2021 to Paris Saint-Germain after the end of his contract with Barcelona, but his first season was not great, so he was satisfied with achieving the French league title, and bidding farewell to the Champions League from the final price at the hands of Real Madrid.

Messi admitted that what he did overall in the 2021-2022 season and even the Ballon d'Or award was not his best, but that does not mean that he does not deserve to be in the list of the top 30 players in the world.

The Argentina international said in a documentary produced by L'Equipe newspaper: "It was a difficult season, but maybe I deserved to be in the list of 30 players nominated for the Ballon d'Or."

At the same time, the "flea" stressed that Karim Benzema was the most deserving of winning the award in its last edition, after leading Real Madrid to the Spanish league and the Champions League and winning the UEFA Nations League with France.

It is worth noting that Messi has won the Golden Ball 7 times in his career, and the opportunity is favorable to achieve his eighth Ballon d'Or in the 2023 edition, whose champions will be announced on Monday, October 30.
