Xabi Alonso always seems to dream of becoming Real Madrid coach, as evidenced by a clause he put in his contract with his current club Bayer Leverkusen that only allows him to leave for the royal club whenever he wants for a sum of money.

This season, Leverkusen lead the Bundesliga standings by two points from Bayern Munich, the pharmaceutical club is making its best start in its history, as well as being one of the few in Europe to remain unbeaten in any game in all competitions.

The past months have seen many rumours about Real Madrid's interest in signing Alonso to succeed Carlo Ancelotti, whose contract with the Merengue expires at the end of this season.

According to the German "SZ", Alonso's contract with Leverkusen involves an amount ranging from 15 to 18 million euros as a penalty clause in case Real Madrid specifically wants to sign him.

This amount is considered a large amount in coach transfers, and this is illustrated by the fact that the biggest transfer of a coach from one club to another was Julian Nagelsmann from Leipzig to Bayern Munich, at which time the Bavarian paid 25 million euros.

Real Madrid's position remains blurry, with Ancelotti expressing every occasion his desire to continue at the club, while the intention seems to be to make a change by the end of the season, and Alonso is at the top of the candidates for the position of coach with his impressive form at Leverkusen.
