Defensa Central reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez decided to renew Lucas Vázquez's contract for another year.

The right-back's contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of the current season, and reports previously indicated that he is closer to leaving next summer than renewing.

But after the goal that Vasquez scored against Deportivo Alaves last week, Perez personally went to the player and informed him of his intention to renew his contract.

The president's desire to keep Vazquez comes from his belief in the importance of the player in Carlo Ancelotti's squad, and that he always attends and gives everything he has at every opportunity, and he does not object when he sits on the bench.

Vazquez, 32 years old, played 19 matches with Real Madrid this season in all tournaments, during which he scored one goal and assisted two goals.

Vazquez, who played most of his career as a right winger, has been active at Real Madrid since 2015 after returning from Espanyol, and has adapted to his advanced age by playing in the right-back position when needed.
