Spanish newspaper reports confirmed that Real Madrid's management terminated its contract with doctor Niko Mihić, the club's head of medical services, for multiple reasons, the latest of which was Arda Güler’s consecutive injuries.
Mihic has been in charge since 2017 and, thanks to his extraordinary medical programmes and the collaboration of renowned fitness coach Bentos, Real Madrid's players have been in their best shape for many years.
But there are several issues that have caused Real Madrid to suspect that Mihic is no longer what he was, most recently Arda Güler's injury.
The Turkish international arrived at Real Madrid with a minor cartilage injury, but Mihic did not succeed in treating it properly, so the injury worsened, and then the doctor refused to undergo surgery, before the club decided that he should undergo surgery and undergo it.
With Güler’s injury renewed more than once after that, Florentino Pérez decided that the change in the position of chief medical officer had come, especially as everyone within Real was concerned about repeated injuries with other players.
On the other hand, the failure of Mihic to manage Eden Hazard's injuries over the course of 5 years, and the constant renewal of injuries by Karim Benzema and Dani Ceballos, was a major reason for his loss of confidence in the management, and after what happened to Güler, the decision to dismiss came immediately.
Hazard retired from football after leaving Real Madrid, Benzema joined Ittihad, while Dani Ceballos remains with the club but is not playing this season due to injury either.
