Real Madrid reveal the truth about Modric's move to the Saudi league in January

Real Madrid CEO Jose Angel Sanchez denied that Luka Modric is close to leaving the club and joining one of the Saudi league teams during the upcoming winter transfer window.

In recent weeks, there have been reports that the Croatia international wants to leave the Santiago Bernabeu after being on the bench recently and losing his starting place in coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad.

Modric was close to Saudi clubs last summer, before announcing his preference to continue with Real Madrid despite all the financial temptations, but the situation may have changed slightly in recent weeks.

For his part, Sanchez commented on the news of Modric's departure to Saudi Arabia, saying: "No Saudi club has negotiated with us about Luca's transfer to him in January."

"We have no plans for Modric to leave us at the moment."

The 36-year-old Modric has participated this season in only 8 games in La Liga with a total of 308 minutes, while in the Champions League he played 106 minutes divided into two matches.
