Real Madrid reversed its previous decision and chose a strange name to sign him in January

The Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Real Madrid will reverse its decision not to sign new players in the winter transfer period, and will try to sign a new player in the attacking line to succeed Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian winger suffered a thigh injury during his participation with the Brazilian national team during the international break, as a result of which he will be absent for a period of up to 3 months.

Although Real Madrid did not intend to sign anyone in the winter because Florentino Pérez’s management believes that such signings are useless, the long period of Vinicius’ absence forces the management to take action to strengthen the team in light of the great challenges that await it in the new year.

The name of Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who can be relied upon as a striker or on the left wing, was put forward as a potential option that would not be expensive and could bring the required offensive quality in the absence of Vinicius.

The strange thing is that Werner is experiencing one of the worst periods of his career. This season he played only 13 matches, most of them as a substitute, for a total of only 370 minutes, during which he scored two goals. He was also excluded from the German national team with the arrival of Julian Nagelsmann to lead "Die Mannschaft".

German newspapers reported earlier that 27-year-old Werner is very close to leave Leipzig in January, given that he was practically out of coach Marco Rose's accounts.

Werner had one big experience in his career when he joined Chelsea in the summer of 2020 for 53 million euros, but he did not succeed in delivering what was expected of him, and he scored only 23 goals in 89 matches in all tournaments, after which he returned to his former club Leipzig for 20 million euros in 2022.
