Real Madrid stands against the transfer of its star to Saudi League

Real Madrid players celebrate

Real Madrid rejected the idea of Luka Modric leaving during the winter transfer period, despite there being great interest from Saudi clubs in signing him.

Modric's contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of this season, and his future remains ambiguous, especially as he turns 39 in 2024.

According to the newspaper "Defensa Central", Modric has two offers from Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad in the Saudi League, with a huge salary exceeding 200 million euros annually.

The two clubs do not mind paying a large transfer fee to Real Madrid, but their only condition is that the deal be completed within the first 10 days of January.

But what is hindering Modric's departure is Real Madrid's insistence that the Croatian international complete his season at the Santiago Bernabeu, and if he wants to leave later in the summer, there is no objection.

Real Madrid officials are aware of the great value that Modric represents for Real Madrid currently, and the departure of a leader like him in the middle of the season may shake the locker room and reduce the options in the midfield in this very busy season.

It is noteworthy that Modric refused to join the Saudi League last season, despite there being another big offer from there.

It remains to be noted that the newspaper "Marca" confirmed that Luca may stay with Real Madrid for another year after the end of his contract, as Florentino Perez's management is open to his continuation, and leaves him the right to decide his fate at the end of this season.
