Surprise: Real Madrid refused to return one of the stars of the golden generation last summer

Marca reported that Keylor Navas, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper, offered himself to the Royal Club during the last summer transfer period.

Thibaut Courtois injured his cruciate ligament a few hours before the start of the new season, beginning the Merengue management's search for a replacement goalkeeper to succeed him this season.

Navas, 37 years old, thought he had the opportunity to return to the Santiago Bernabeu and end his career there, so he contacted Real Madrid officials through his agent and actually presented himself to them.

But the response came from Florentino Perez's management by rejecting the idea and thanking him, after which Real Madrid went and included Kepa on loan from Chelsea until the end of the current season.

Keylor Navas did not participate in any matches this season after the end of his loan with Nottingham Forest and his return to Paris Saint-Germain, and the French club was hoping to get rid of him last summer because of his huge salary and lack of need for him.

Navas is considered one of the most important pillars of Real Madrid's golden generation, which won three Champions Leagues in a row. He played a total of 162 matches for the Spanish club and won 12 championships with Los Blancos.
