Ronald Araujo will not undergo facial surgery, and has decided to wear a mask instead in order to be with Barcelona against Girona on Sunday in the Spanish League.
According to the newspaper "Marca", Araujo suffered a fracture in his cheekbone (cheek area) during the last Atletico Madrid match, and there were doubts that he might have to undergo surgery.
However, after Araujo underwent examinations, it became clear that the injury was not serious, and he could participate in the Girona match, but on the condition that he wears a mask over his face.
Indeed, the Uruguayan international participates without problems in Barcelona’s training, and it is certain that he will be present in the upcoming summit against Girona.
Araujo is considered one of Barcelona's most important players this season, and nothing is more evident than his participation in 13 matches in all tournaments, in addition to receiving the captaincy for the first time in his career with the Catalan club.
It remains to be noted that Girona shares the top spot in the Spanish League standings with Real Madrid with 38 points each, while Barcelona has 34 points in third place.
