Two “impossible” solutions for Barcelona’s participation in World Club Cup 2025

It seems that participation in the 2025 Club World Cup is close to impossible, as there is no way for the Catalan club to be present in the competition scheduled to be held in the United States except through two solutions that are extremely difficult to achieve.

FIFA rules require that only a maximum of two teams from each country participate in the World Cup, and Real Madrid has already guaranteed its participation in the competition after winning the 2021-2022 European Champions League.

Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica and Porto will definitely participate in the Club World Cup, leaving 4 vacant seats for Europe.

The remaining four seats are determined based on the UEFA classification, in which Barcelona finds itself lagging behind its compatriot Atletico Madrid, which is ahead of the Blaugrana by a large margin of points, and appears closer to being with its neighbor in the World Cup.

According to the newspaper "Sport", the only way for Barcelona to surpass Atletico and be in the Club World Cup is to win the Champions League this season, a task that is sure to be very difficult for Xavi Hernandez's squad.

There is another solution to be in the World Cup, but it is also unlikely to be achieved, which is for FIFA to invite Barcelona to the competition, as FIFA has the right to invite two teams to the tournament.

But the relationship between Barcelona, FIFA and UEFA is very bad thanks to the European Super League project, so the Catalan club is outside the accounts of Gianni Infantino and his foundation.

Participation in the Club World Cup represents a goal for Barcelona because of the large financial returns expected to be obtained by each club, and talk of an amount that may reach 30 or 40 million euros.
