When will Barcelona return to play at Camp Nou?

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

Camp Nou is the stadium of the Spanish club Barcelona

The newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" set the date for Barcelona's return to play again at the Camp Nou Stadium, which is undergoing development work that is supposed to be completed by 2026.

Barcelona began a major campaign to expand Camp Nou and modernize the stands and stadium logistics, including the pitch, just as Real Madrid did at the Santiago Bernabeu and continues to do over the last three years.

Instead of the historic stadium, Camp Nou, the Catalan club is playing its matches this season at the Luis Companis Olympic Stadium, and the situation is expected to continue as it is even with the start of the new season.

The stadium's renovation operations are proceeding perfectly, and the responsible Turkish company even succeeded in completing the demolition schedule ahead of schedule, which guaranteed it, according to the contract concluded with Barcelona, a reward of one million euros.

At the same time, with everything going as planned, Barcelona will return to playing in its historic stadium again starting on November 29, 2024, with the completion of the first phase of renovations.

65,000 spectators will be allowed in the Camp Nou stands after the end of the first phase, provided that the number of spectators will reach more than 100,000 when the renovation work is fully completed.

It is noteworthy that earlier press reports suggested that a large celebration for Lionel Messi would be held at Camp Nou after the end of the first phase and the return of the fans in November 2024.
