Xavi admits: This is not Barca 2010

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez admitted that his current team does not compare to the best team in the history of the Catalan club, pointing out that the only way to achieve victories is to play as a team and not to rely on individual quality.

The Catalan coach's statements came after the difficult 3-2 victory over Almeria, where he also revealed that he had to get angry with the players at halftime to provide a better performance.

Speaking to the media after the match, Xavi said, "In 2010, we had the best Barca in history, now we don't. Last year we did not win titles because of individual quality, but because we were a strong collective team."

“We don't have the quality of 2010, forget it please, the truth is that if we don't give our best effort, we will definitely not win anyway.”

He also added, "You can play well and win or lose, but show respect for the logo you wear. We must always give everything we have on the field."

He continued, "I see that the players lack hunger and positive behavior. It is my responsibility, and this will not happen again, I promise you that."

He concluded, "Today was the harshest talk I had at halftime as a coach, and it seems that it paid off. Did you see the second half?"

It is noteworthy that Barcelona occupies third place in the Spanish League standings, and will rest until January 4 when it returns to compete in the King’s Cup, after which it travels to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Super Cup.
