AS newspaper reported that Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is no longer convinced of Joao Felix's abilities, and has decided not to rely on him in the coming period.
According to the report, Xavi and the sports administration in general wanted to sign Giovani Lo Celso last summer, but Joan Laporta stood in the way and did the impossible to convince all parties of Joao Felix.
With the arrival of the Portuguese, the player has not yet succeeded in convincing Xavi of his abilities given his lack of the necessary sharpness, and the Almeria match was, according to the newspaper’s description, “the straw that broke the camel’s back.”
Felix's performances made Xavi lose his patience with him, and he even decided to remove him from the starting lineup in the upcoming matches and change the playing style to 4-4-2, provided that Barca signs a replacement midfielder for Gavi.
All of these things confirm that Felix will not continue his career in Barcelona at the end of his loan this season, especially since Atletico Madrid is requesting a large sum that exceeds the Blaugrana’s economic capabilities to allow Barcelona to permanently include the player next summer.
But the only hope for Felix to continue with Barcelona comes through Laporta, who still strongly believes in the 22-year-old's abilities and supports him, and will try with Xavi again in order to convince him to rely on him and not put him on the bench.
It remains to be noted that Felix played 20 matches with Barcelona this season in all tournaments, during which he scored 6 goals and assisted 3 others.
