The European Court of Justice issued a historic ruling on the validity of holding the European Super League, while condemning the European Union for standing in the way of the organization of the new competition.

The story began in April 2021 when a large number of European clubs announced the establishment of the European Super League competition to replace the Champions League organized by the European Football Association.

After that, there were many public and governmental pressures, and all the teams withdrew except Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus, and UEFA continued to monitor the trio and did not stop punishing them on every possible occasion.

After resorting to the European Court of Justice, the court clearly stated that UEFA did not have the right to decide to punish clubs participating in the Super League, and considered that either FIFA or the European Union had badly exploited their authority towards the clubs establishing the European Super League.

This decision is considered historic by all standards, as it is an acknowledgment of the clubs’ right to create the tournament without UEFA interference or any possible punishment, which opens the door to the European Super League becoming a reality during the next few years.
