The AFC Disciplinary Committee decided to count the result of the match between Al Ittihad and Sepahan in the AFC Champions League in favor of the Saudi club 3-0.
Al-Ittihad refused to play the match after taking to the pitch and discovering the presence of statues with political significance, contrary to FIFA rules.
According to press reports, the AFC considered that the refusal of Ittihad to play the match was legal and decided in its favor after confirming the validity of its claim that there were political connotations on a football field.
Al-Ittihad will be considered a 3-0 winner, and a fine of $ 200,000 was imposed on the Iranian club Sepahan, in addition to preventing it from playing the next 3 Asian matches at home.
On this basis, Al-Ittihad will reach the ninth point and are close to ensuring qualification to the quarter-finals, while Sepahan comes in second place with six points, the Iraqi Air Force in third place with four points, and Uzbekistan's AGMC is at the bottom of the standings without points.
