Al-Ittihad fans' attack forces Benzema to deactivate his Instagram account

Karim Benzema was forced to deactivate his Instagram account after a fierce attack on him from Al-Ittihad fans in the past hours.

Benzema was part of coach Marcelo Gallardo's squad that suffered a heavy defeat from Al-Nassr 5-2 in Jeddah, in the 17th round of the Saudi League last Tuesday.

Al-Ittihad is experiencing a major state of decline, as its defeat from Al-Nasr was the third in a row in the league, in addition to the loss from Al-Ahly of Egypt in the Club World Cup in the quarter-finals.

Jeddah Tigers fans hold Benzema responsible for the team's decline, especially since he failed to provide the added value expected from a star of his size.

Al-Ittihad occupies sixth place in the Saudi League and practically lost the opportunity to maintain the title, and also bid farewell to the Club World Cup in a dull manner, despite the massive public support, in the quarter-finals.

Benzema caused a penalty kick that restored Al-Nassr's result on Tuesday, and the Frenchman in general presented one of his worst matches ever.

All of these things were enough for him to receive a barrage of negative comments and major attacks from Al-Ittihad fans, some of whom demanded that he leave.

The 36-year-old responded by temporarily deactivating his Instagram account, as if he wanted to escape the hell that Al-Ittihad fans had put him through in the past hours.

It is noteworthy that Benzema scored 12 goals with Al-Ittihad and assisted 5 others in 20 matches in all tournaments this season.
