Argentina immortalizes Messi with a historic decision

The Argentine Football Association announced, through its president, Claudio Tapia, that the number 10 in the national team will not be worn by any other player after Lionel Messi.

As Tapia confirmed in media statements, the least that Argentina can offer to Messi after his historic achievements with the Tango is to immortalize his shirt forever.

Therefore, the decision was made that as soon as the flea retires from football, he will be banned from wearing the number 10 shirt in the Argentine national team, whatever the name of the player he wants to get.

Throughout history, many legends have worn the No. 10 shirt in Argentina, led by Diego Armando Maradona, Juan Riquelme, Palo Aimar and others.

But how Messi led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup podium, and before that, achieving the Copa America despite all the pressures, was enough for the Federation’s decision to immortalize him in this way.

Messi played 180 international matches with his country in all tournaments, during which he succeeded in scoring 106 goals.

The 36-year-old's career continues with the Land of Silver, where he will play in the 2024 Copa America, and it is possible that he will be present in the 2026 World Cup as well.
