“Benzema deeply regrets going to Saudi Arabia.”

Former Paris Saint-Germain player Jean-Michel Larque believes that Karim Benzema deeply regrets his decision to leave Real Madrid and join the Etihad.

Benzema is going through a difficult period with Al-Ittihad after he was subjected to a massive public attack following the recent decline in results.

Larque, in an interview reported by AS newspaper, believes that Benzema's decision to leave Real Madrid and head to the Saudi League was wrong, and that the player realized this recently.

“Benzema regrets it,” Lark said. “Of course everyone does what they want.”

He also added, "He could have left football through the front door through Real Madrid after achieving many titles and the Golden Ball, but he lost by joining an artificial championship."

He continued, "I sometimes see matches in the Saudi League and the difference in level is clear. The decline in progress is terrible."

He concluded, "It is a losing battle and he no longer feels himself as a player there. It is a shame for his current feelings of remorse. He could have completed another year with Real Madrid and then retired instead of his current situation."

It is noteworthy that Benzema terminated his contract with Real Madrid and joined Al-Ittihad for free with a two-year contract during which he will receive approximately 400 million euros.
