Cristiano Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, is back to stir up the usual controversy from her, after she sent an indirect message that Lionel Messi does not deserve to win the 2023 Ballon d'Or.
The Argentine surpasses Ronaldo in the number of Golden Balls with 8 for Messi compared to 5 for the Portuguese international, and achieved the eighth this year after leading his country to the 2022 World Cup title in Qatar.
Many criticisms have been given to the Ballon d'Or and there are many who considered that Messi was not the most deserving of winning it, and these voices were joined by Ronaldo's sister.
Katia Aveiro posted on her Instagram account a picture of Ronaldo with many of his individual titles, including the Golden Ball, and wrote on it: "These awards were won and not given to you."
Of course, Aveiro means that Ronaldo won every award deservedly, while Messi the last Ballon d'Or was awarded to him for various reasons and was not the most worthy of it, and perhaps also many other previous awards - in her estimation -.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been absent from the list of the world's best candidates for the Ballon d'Or in the last two years after his form with Manchester United dropped and then his move last winter to Saudi club Al-Nassr.
As for Messi, despite moving to Inter Miami, he succeeded in winning the Ballon d'Or, thus becoming the first player in history to achieve the award while playing for a club outside the continent of Europe.
