Despite the renewal of his contract.. revealing an “accessible” clause for Osimhen

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

Victor Osimhen, the Italian Napoli player, renews his contract with the club

Sky Sports reported that renewing Victor Osimhen's contract with Napoli will not likely prevent him from leaving the Italian club next summer, thanks to the release clause in his new contract.

On Saturday evening, Napoli announced the renewal of Osimhen’s contract for an additional year, allowing him to remain at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium until the summer of 2026 instead of 2025.

The first benefit that will accrue to Osimhen from this renewal is that his salary will increase significantly, as he will receive 10 million euros annually.

The other benefit is that his departure to any club he wants will not be difficult, as Napoli has set a clause in the new contract whose value ranges between 120 to 130 million euros only.

This is an amount that the English Premier League clubs, Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain can easily pay and acquire the Nigerian striker, and the Saudi League may also be interested again in including the player after being rejected last summer.

It should be noted that the new clause stipulates that it will only be activated outside Italy.

It is noteworthy that Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille in September 2020 for 75 million euros, and the 24-year-old quickly left his mark after he led the southern team to the Italian League title and was the competition’s top scorer, then won the 2023 African Player of the Year award.
