FIFA announces: Is Cristiano Ronaldo the world’s top scorer in 2023?



FIFA announced that Cristiano Ronaldo is the world's top scorer in 2023 after confirming that his goals in the Arab Club Championship were counted.


The controversy was very present in recent days in light of what was said about the Arab Club Championship not being included in the official FIFA tournaments, and consequently Ronaldo’s goals in it would not be recognized.


But FIFA, through its official website and in a lengthy report, clearly announced that the tournament was counted, and that Ronaldo was thus included in the title of world top scorer in 2023.


Ronaldo scored 34 goals with Al-Nasr in the Saudi League, another goal in the King’s Cup, 3 goals in the AFC Champions League, and 6 in the Arab Championship, a total of 44 goals with Al-Alamy.


At the same time, the 36-year-old scored 10 goals for the Portugal national team in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, bringing his total goals in the past year to 54 goals.


Ronaldo surpassed Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé after each scored 52 goals, and Erling Haaland came third with 50 goals.
