Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr player, joined the list of European Super League rejects, indirectly.
The official account of the Vans United club, which plays in the third division league in Montenegro, published through its official Instagram account a post in which they attacked the European Super League and its policies.
"Please do not destroy our dream, do not allow the creation of the European Super League, let us and all the small clubs dream," the club wrote.
This post received a special reaction from Ronaldo, as “The Don” liked it, in a clear declaration of his rejection of the idea of the European Super League, which is expected to greatly affect small and medium clubs.
Ronaldo was not the only great player who rejected the new tournament. Portugal legend Luis Figo announced in clear words his rejection of the project as well, as did Andriy Shevchenko and others.
It is noteworthy that the European Court of Justice recognized the right of clubs to establish the European Super League without imposing sanctions from UEFA.
Only Real Madrid and Barcelona are still participating in the new tournament, while all English Premier League clubs announced their refusal to participate, and only Napoli from Italy expressed their openness to the idea.
