Updated: Nov 29, 2023

Norwegian Haaland celebrates scoring the 40th goal in the European Champions League

Erling Haaland scored a goal during his team's match, Manchester City, with Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium, and through it, he entered the history of the Champions League from its widest gates.

This was Haaland's 40th goal in the Champions League in 35 matches with all the clubs he represented in the competition, making him the fastest person to reach this number of goals in the history of the competition.

The Norwegian international scored 8 goals in the Champions League with Red Bull Salzburg, then scored 15 goals with Borussia Dortmund, and finally 17 goals with Manchester City, 12 last season, and 5 this season.

This was not the only special number for Haaland, as he also became the youngest player to reach 40 goals in the history of the Champions League at the age of 23 years and 130 days.

Leipzig is Haaland's favorite victim throughout his career. With his goal this evening, he has scored 12 goals against them, whether with City or Dortmund.

It is noteworthy that Haaland shares the top scorer in the Champions League this season with Rasmus Højlund, Manchester United striker, Alvaro Morata, Atletico Madrid striker, Sporting Braga striker Bruma, and Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi, with 5 goals each.
