In a crazy scenario... Inter leaves the Italian Cup early at the hands of Bologna

Inter did not succeed in maintaining its lead by one goal, and was defeated 2-1 by Bologna at the San Siro Stadium, in the round of 16 match of the Italian Cup.

The match ended in a goalless draw, and Lautaro Martinez missed a penalty kick in the 65th minute that would have changed the match.

In the second minute of the first extra period, Carlos Augusto scored the lead goal for Inter, and the advantage remained until the last 10 minutes of the second extra period.

In the 112th minute, Sam Biokema scored the equalizer for Bologna, before everyone was surprised by the visitors' second goal in the 116th minute via Dan Ndoye, with it announcing the elimination of the defending champion.

This is not the first surprise in the round of 16 of the Italian Cup, as it was preceded by the harsh defeat that Napoli suffered from Frosinone on Tuesday by 4-0, leaving the holders of the Calcio title eliminated early as well.

Bologna is the dark horse of Italian football this season. The team led by coach Thiago Motta occupies fourth place in the league with 28 points, and is performing at outstanding levels, most recently when it beat Roma 2-0 at the Olimpico.

On the other hand, this is Inter's first defeat since September, and a major blow to coach Simone Inzaghi, who was hoping to maintain the cup title, in addition to his amazing levels in the league this season.
