Inter, the winter champion of Serie A... an advantage and a disadvantage!

Inter became the winter champions of the Italian League for the 2023-24 season following their dramatic 2-1 victory over Hellas Verona in the 19th round of Serie A.

The victory made Inter's balance after the end of the first round 48 points, 5 points behind the closest pursuers, Juventus, before the Bianconeri played their match on Sunday against Salernitana.

The first round witnessed a record for Inter, after Simone Inzaghi's squad won 15 out of 19 matches, in addition to three draws and one defeat, which came against Sassuolo in September.

Last season, Napoli was only two points better than Inter in the first round, and the southern team lost only once, but it won 16 and tied twice, bringing its score to 50 points after 19 matches, and eventually won the title.

If Inter continue to finish the second half of the season with the same points per game average as they did in the first half, they will finish the 2023-24 season with a total of 96 points.

Inter winning the “Winter Champion” title in Calcio can be considered a great advantage and at the same time it may worry the Nerazzurri fans.

Of the 19 league championships Inter have won, 17 times they were winter champions, which heralds that the title is on its way to San Siro if Lautaro's teammates continue their high levels.

However, the last time Inter finished the “football paradise” as winter champion, they lost the title. This happened two seasons ago when the Blue won the standings in January and then lost the title to its neighbor Milan at the end of the season.

The second round of the Italian League is scheduled to begin without rest, as Inter's journey begins against Monza on January 16th, then the Nerazzurri will play the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia against Lazio on the 19th.
