Italian national team players celebrate qualifying for the Euro

Italy succeeded in qualifying for Euro 2024 after a goalless draw with Ukraine at the conclusion of the qualifiers, in the match that was held at the BayArena in the German city of Leverkusen.

The Azzurri's victory over the North Macedonia team 5-2 in the last round was important in order to equalize with Ukraine in the number of points, and then gain the advantage in head to head.

The most prominent feature of the match was Italy's wasting of easy opportunities, especially in the first half, which raised concerns about a repeat of the scenario of the North Macedonia match in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

But in the end, the Ukrainian national team's efforts to score a goal and snatch the qualification card did not succeed, and Italy succeeded in escaping this trap.

Coach Luciano Spalletti's men qualified for the Euro in this way after achieving 14 points and occupying second place behind the England national team.

It is noteworthy that Italy is the holder of the Euro title, after it won the tournament in the 2020 edition over England on penalties.

However, Italy failed to reach the 2022 World Cup, missing the World Cup for the first time in history, which it achieved on 4 previous occasions.
